Event Description:
Just in time for preserve season, we are excited to offer a 4-day workshop to teach you everything you need to know about making and utilizing a fermentation crock!
Fermentation crocks are specialized ceramic containers designed to create the right conditions for controlled fermentation. They have been used for thousands of years across many cultures to preserve food, develop flavour, and improve shelf life through the action of beneficial microorganisms.
They can be used for many foods, including sauerkraut, kimchi, pickled cucumbers, beans and peppers, fruit chutneys and mustards.
In this fully immersive 12-hour/4-session workshop, John will guide you through the steps of making your very own fermentation crock. And then … he’ll teach you how to use it to prepare your own favourite preserves. All ingredients needed to make your first batch of preserves are included in the fee.
